Ce mardi à eu lieu l’atelier maquillage au sein de nos locaux au Kwerk Bienfaisance.
Les 1ère et 3ème étaient réunis pour assister à la Masterclass de Leslie Dumeix, Make-up Artist & Beauty Consultant tel que Cartier, Sephora et Louboutin Beauté.
Cette journée à commencé par une découverte du parcours de Mme Dumeix ainsi qu’une explication sur les fondamentaux du maquillage afin que les étudiants puissent mettre en pratique ses conseils durant l’après-midi.
Les études, le travail, la beauté
Son histoire avec le maquillage débute en 2011 lorsqu’elle intègre l’école Flavia Palmeira après avoir réalisé un BTS Commerce International et une année de licence à la Sorbonne. Déjà très intéressée par l’univers de la mode et de la beauté étant petite, elle a tout simplement décider d’en faire son métier. En 2013, elle rejoint Mac Cosmetics en tant qu’assistante et mannequin mais commence à réellement exercer en 2017. Il lui a fallut 5 ans pour réunir un book qui lui permettait d’intégrer une agence qui est le meilleur moyen pour elle d’accéder aux grandes marques. Après avoir été chez The Wall Group pendant 3 ans, elle est aujourd’hui chez B Agency qui lui permet de développer davantage ses compétences autour de l’univers de la beauté.
L’univers du luxe
C’est dans cet univers que Mme Dumeix s’épanouit aujourd’hui, en réalisant des make-up pour des défilés, shootings, pubs et bien d’autres encore pour des marques de mode, de beauté ou de haute-joaillerie par exemple. De plus, la période du Covid et l’explosion des créateurs de contenus sur les réseaux sociaux l’ont poussé à s’investir dans ce domaine et de développer ses compétences en tant que Beauty Consultant. Elle réalise des vidéos sur les réseaux sociaux pour des marques en mettant en valeur ses idées tout en s’alignant à l’image de ces marques.
Les conseils pour nos étudiants
La make-up artist a insisté sur 3 points qui selon elle sont indispensables afin de travailler dans cet univers. Tout d’abord la polyvalence c’est-à-dire être capable de réaliser des missions différentes, de développer ses compétences afin d’être la meilleure version de soi-même et donc s’adapter aux situations. Ensuite, l’importance des langues. Il est nécessaire de savoir parler au minimum anglais et une à deux langues supplémentaires pour rentrer dans cet univers où la concurrence est rude afin de se différencier des autres. Enfin il faut être doté d’humilité car le fait de côtoyer des grandes marques, des célébrités peut nous faire oublier que notre travail est celui de l’ombre et que nous ne sommes pas devant les projecteurs. De plus, pour être inspiré il faut selon elle éviter les routines et donc se donner des défis pour ne pas craindre l’échec. Il est important de sortir et de voir le monde qui nous entoure à travers des livres, musées, cinémas, parcs… ce qui permet également d’agrémenter notre goût pour la beauté et de renforcer notre style.
La pratique
Après la théorie, il faut la pratique. C’est pourquoi Mme Dumeix a maquillé deux de nos étudiantes, une à la peau blanche et l’autre à la peau noire pour montrer les différentes techniques à appliquer. Suite à ces conseils, c’était au tour de nos étudiants et étudiantes de pratiquer sur eux-mêmes. Fonds de teint, concealer, blush, poudre…tout était à disposition pour réussir son make-up de tous les jours pour aller travailler.

MASTERCLASS : Make-up workshop with Leslie Dumeix
This Tuesday took place the make-up workshop in our premises at Kwerk Bienfaisance.
The 1st and 3rd were gathered to attend the Masterclass of Leslie Dumeix, Make-up Artist & Beauty Consultant such as Cartier, Sephora and Louboutin Beauté.
The day began with a discovery of Ms. Dumeix’s background and an explanation of the fundamentals of makeup so that the students could put her advice into practice during the afternoon.
Studies, work, beauty
Her story with makeup began in 2011 when she joined the Flavia Palmeira school after completing a BTS in International Trade and a year of undergraduate studies at the Sorbonne. Already very interested in the world of fashion and beauty as a child, she simply decided to make it her profession. In 2013, she joined Mac Cosmetics as an assistant and model but started to really practice in 2017. It took her 5 years to put together a portfolio that allowed her to join an agency which is the best way for her to access the big brands. After having been at The Wall Group for 3 years, she is now at B Agency which allows her to develop her skills further around the world of beauty.
The world of luxury
It is in this universe that Ms. Dumeix blossoms today, by realizing make-up for fashion shows, shootings, commercials and many others for fashion, beauty or high jewelry brands for example. Moreover, the Covid period and the explosion of content creators on social networks have pushed her to invest in this field and to develop her skills as a Beauty Consultant. She produces videos on social networks for brands by highlighting her ideas while aligning herself with the image of these brands.
Tips for our students
The make-up artist insisted on 3 points that according to her are essential to work in this universe. First of all, versatility, that is to say, being able to carry out different missions, to develop one’s skills in order to be the best version of oneself and thus adapt to situations. Then, the importance of languages. It is necessary to be able to speak at least English and one or two additional languages to enter this world where competition is fierce in order to stand out from the others. Finally, you need to be humble because the fact that you are in the company of big brands and celebrities can make you forget that your work is behind the scenes and that you are not in the spotlight. In addition, to be inspired, according to her, you have to avoid routines and therefore give yourself challenges so as not to be afraid of failure. It is important to go out and see the world around us through books, museums, cinemas, parks… which also allows us to enhance our taste for beauty and strengthen our style.
The practice
After the theory, it is necessary to practice. That’s why Mrs. Dumeix made up two of our students, one with white skin and the other with black skin, to show the different techniques to apply. Following this advice, it was our students’ turn to practice on themselves. Foundation, concealer, blush, powder…everything was available to make a success of your everyday make-up for work.
